Hi all, my name is Paul. I am a full member of All Wales People First and I’m sharing my news with you.

Recently I went to a Gig with Gig Buddies North Wales in Bethesda to watch some rock bands at Neuadd Ogwen. I met new people and saw some old faces, something I enjoyed doing. I try to do something with my Gig Buddy once a month.

This week I was attending art class with an Adult Learning Wales tutor. She’s an inspiring artist, I’ve learnt a lot from her since I enrolled as a student, about how to use colours and materials.

I have been keeping up with my exercise and healthy eating routines since I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic.  This is something I’ve been doing since 2025.  My advice is to try and have as little sugar and carbs as you can if you are trying to or planning to lose weight.  It’s also good to exercise like join a gym, go swimming, go out for walks if you can.   If you’re trying to lose some weight it takes time and it depends on how unfit you are to start with.  It’s really important to take advice from your doctor or nurse though.  Lucky for me I am now in a normal healthy range.

I have been busy with work lately in the shop volunteering and public speaking.

I am giving a lecture a week before Christmas about how I see the world being autistic and with a learning disability. I had training with a professional speaker through the Special Olympics GB Athlete Leadership Programme – that’s how my speaking career started.

I give talks regularly in school, college and university and events.  I don’t get very nervous on stage – just occasionally.

I recently applied for a voluntary role as Special Olympics Great Britain athlete ambassador; if I’m successful this means that I will be going into primary and secondary schools to give talks in front of students. So fingers crossed I get a new role with SOGB.

I am part of the Chat and Chill group  at Pontio where we go to have a chat, chill and relax once a month; it’s run by Annedd Ni and Blas Pontio.

I had a catch up with someone who was my nurse at the time during the lockdown. I met her at a meeting for residents in Gwynedd. It’s about how a local council improves services.
