Well first off isn’t it a horrible day out there? We always say during the half term the weather always seems to be horrible and dreary. Glad I’m working from home nice and warm.
I haven’t done a diary update for a bit because – as they say – life gets crazy and I do have to say I have definitely been busy with Cwm Taf, CARE (Centre for Adult Social Care Research) and getting ready for all the festivals and away times coming up for everyone.
Work-wise I have been improving on my Chair skills and working with Co production Wales. I am Chair of the Learning Disability Steering Group of the Regional Partnership Board and have been doing this for a while. We are planning to do a morning of co-production to help others within the Regional Partnership Board develop their own Chair skills. This will be known as the Golden Thread – a kind of gentle introduction to chairing for the different groups within the RPB. They wanted me to start this off because the Learning Disability Workstream is well established and a good example. Hopefully we can pass this experience onto the other groups. Being a chair can be hard work!
I am also going to be on an interview panel in 2 weeks to interview candidates for a role of Learning Disability Programme Manager in the RPB and hopefully we will be able to get someone who will be amazing at their role and I am excited to see where this role will go and all the improvements it can make.
I have been doing lots of meetings in person and online for CARE as I am now also on the CARE Strategic Advisory Board – we have our first online meeting at the end of the month and also have our next Lived Experience Board meeting in May, so it’s all go for the centre and Cardiff Uni. I sometimes wonder how I manage my time, but I do feel that the work we do will make a difference and I do get support from Tracey at All Wales PF and Dawn & Pauline from Cwm Taf PF.
To say my work has been busy is definitely an understatement, but my home life thankfully is nice and chilled. Me and my boyfriend just celebrated our 2 year anniversary yesterday and we had a meal at mine where I made perfect (imperfect!) chips from scratch and must say they turned out so yummy and was only my third time in trying to make them.
I am looking forward to a quiet weekend and going home on Easter Sunday for my favourite dinner and the day with the family and then I can come home and enjoy my Easter prezzies – chocolate and most probably a bottle or two of my favourite beverage! So yep I have been a busy bee over the last couple of months but I love it and enjoy my down time even more.
