I’m back in north Wales now.  That’s why my internet connection is better!  You would think it would be better in London than in north Wales, but it’s the other way around.

I haven’t been lecturing this month; I’ll be talking to the nursing students next month – I think they’re out on placement at the moment.

I’ve been in touch with the Head of School for Sport and Exercise Science here in Bangor – they’re interested in my experience of the Special Olympics and they want me to come along and talk about it if they can also arrange for a staff member from the Special Olympics Great Britain National Office.

I have done the athlete leadership training which included public speaking and being an ambassador in schools, colleges and universities, that’s why I can go along with one of the office staff if it can be arranged.

My local self advocacy group is keen to encourage Special Olympics to come to the area too.  I was part of the football team in 2013 and I also did a mile run down the Mall in London to fundraise a few years ago.

My advice is work hard and you’ll get the chance to compete!

Talking of exercise, I’ve been keeping up my exercise alongside my healthy eating habits, to keep on top of my diabetes.  I went to Pure Gym with my brother and went on the exercise bike and used the weights.  My healthy eating is going ok – I did have a cake the other day but I only have cakes and carbs as treats. You have to be really careful about what you eat – mashed potatoes and Chicken Kiev are full of carbohydrates. My mum helps me to get it right and I do feel better for it.

I’m off to Anheddau today for crafts and singing. It’s not far from my house so I walk there with mum. I think there will be a chance to join the gym with Anheddau soon too.
