I had a phone call in the summer from Llwybrau Llesiant a local self advocacy group, inviting me to take part in a TV programme.  I can’t say too much about it now, but I’ve been doing some filming for a Welsh TV production company and I hope it’ll be broadcast around Christmas.  Watch this space!

I got elected to the North Wales Flyers recently too – they are a regional self-advocacy group which covers all the counties in the north Wales area.  They meet up monthly to talk about the issues affecting people with a learning disability and this gets fed back to the Regional Partnership Board.  It’s good to hear about the issues that other people and groups are facing.

The bus issue is ongoing around here – I did mention that I’d been asked to take the issues around public transport to the Senedd, but I haven’t heard any more about that.

In my last diary update I talked about regular meetings with the local council to talk about issues we’re facing.  This month’s meeting was cancelled – I’m not sure why.  Possibly because there are problems with the Menai Bridge.

I went with my family to the Eisteddfod in Wrexham in August. My sister was performing so we went to watch her.  We stayed overnight in Chester the night before and then spent the day at the Eisteddfod.  My back was aching after walking around the Maes all day.  I do get some problems with my back, but I don’t like to complain because there are some people who can’t walk and people who are worse off than me.

I met up with the Citizens’ Panel in the Conwy Connect offices the other week – this was great for me as I now know where to go for the North Wales Flyers meetings too.  We discussed interviews and what questions you can ask in an interview and what questions you shouldn’t ask.  We took it in turns to be interviewer and be interviewed. I found being an interviewer quite hard. Being interviewed was much easier! I needed three cups of tea to keep me going – my mouth had dried up with all the talking!

Roaring Mon has contacted the local MP to invite them to our next meeting as a guest speaker. We haven’t got a date yet.

I’ve had a few scam calls lately – you need to be really careful not to respond to scam texts.
