It’s a long time since I’ve done one of these diary updates with you. I haven’t been feeling too good over the past year or so.
I have started one to one counselling because I had a bad breakdown earlier this year. I was referred to mental health services and the mental health nurse felt that I might have ADHD. I’m halfway through an ADHD assessment at the moment and my friends and I think that an ADHD diagnosis makes sense.
Counselling has started to be helpful I think. I felt relaxed when I met the counsellor and was able to talk to them. I had felt very scared about my mental health, and I still have bad days.
I’ve backed away from social media somewhat too – I think I was sharing too much and trying to be someone that I wasn’t.
My friends help me when I’m feeling down and I do enjoy socialising although it tires me out. My drink got spiked in Cardiff Pride too – that was very scary and my friend Nicole had to stay overnight with me.
I still work for Caerphilly People First as the Executive Assistant. I update the work’s social media and I’m the contact person for our activities. I’m on the Citizen Panel and have been supporting our National Council rep Amy at meetings. We went to Swansea on the train together without any support for the last meeting – we were really chuffed with ourselves.
Caerphilly PF has been translating the Police and Crime Commissioner’s latest report into Easy Read and I’ve been involved with that. We’re just back from the garden where we’ve been planting onions and garlic.
I also have a beautiful new nephew born this month!
