We went out for Dad’s birthday last night and had a lovely meal.

I’ve been busy since we last spoke.  It was Down Syndrome Awareness Week Day in March and I wore my odd socks.  I also did my first Park Run to raise awareness. I like to keep fit and healthy – I’m still doing the mixed ability rugby and I’m adding the park runs to that now.

Since I had my gall bladder operation I’ve got to be careful what I eat and there are foods that don’t agree with me anymore. I’ve lost a bit of weight too.

I get the train down to James (my boyfriend’s) place in Johnston every other weekend. I’ve got used to travelling on my own now but there’s lots of stops on the way!

James volunteers for the Torch Theatre in Milford Haven and he’s got me interested in that too.  So, I start as volunteer front of house person later this month.  I’ll do the volunteering every other weekend when I’m at James’s place.

James and I were really pleased with ourselves the other day because we got the train from Johnston to Pyle and then the bus from Pyle to Porthcawl to meet up with a representative from a travel company who showed us around Porthcawl.  It was a proper day out and we did well to manage the train and bus by ourselves.

I’m going to be voting in May.  As a campaigner I feel it’s important for everyone to vote, but especially important for people with a learning disability and Down Syndrome to have their say.  I will vote for the party that I feel will support learning disability organisations.

Still no news on moving back into our house which was fire damaged a couple of years ago.  We’re currently in a house in Carmarthen which suits us well, as it’s centrally located for everyone’s work.  I work in Carmarthen and so does Dad.  My mum has her own business based in Llandeilo and my sister works as my support worker so wherever I go, she goes!  We get on well and we don’t argue.  It’ll be my big birthday next year when I’ll be 40.
