Anna’s Story
I’ve got lots to do today. I’m a student and today is the last day of college for this term so I have to make sure I’ve done everything. This is my first year, so I hope things will be safe for me to do the second year in September.
During lockdown it’s been nice to do a 9am-4pm college day. Usually I have to catch the 6am bus to college, and not get home until about 7pm.
Some lectures have been online, but I mostly use Google Classroom and have any one to one support by video call.
Because I have asthma I have to shield while things are not safe. I live in supported living, but I’ve moved back in with my parents for lockdown. I’ve lived in supported living since 2018 so it’s weird being back home. Nice to have my parent’s company though. I’ve been keeping in touch with friends through WhatsApp too.
I have a job at Mc Donald’s, but I’m furloughed at the moment. Even if they do re-open, I don’t think I’ll be safe to go back because I am vulnerable with asthma.
I feel ok at the moment because I’m so busy with college work, but if lockdown goes on through the summer when the college year has finished, being stuck at home will probably affect me a lot.
I can’t wait to get back in the car and go for a drive out and about!
