Life in Lockdown: Sophie, September 2021

It’s been a busy summer!  I’m still working as a waitress in the restaurant and doing my cleaning job on Friday mornings.  The waitressing has been going really well. I’ve had lots of positive feedback and I’m enjoying it much more than washing up.  There haven’t been any further rude customers thank goodness and it looks as though the caravan parks will be full until late autumn so there will be plenty of work.

I’m going to see JLS in Cardiff in October with my fiancé so I’ve been sorting out the transport to get there.  I went to Milford Haven to get coach tickets and then had to go again because there were some changes to make. It takes around 4 hours to get to Milford Haven by bus.

I’m off on a well-earned holiday to north Wales next week and staying in a caravan park.  I hope to meet up with new friends I made online during the Covid pandemic.  On my way back I will be joining the AWPF staff team at their delayed induction event in Llandrindod Wells.

I’ve been busy with learning disability work too.  I sit on the Learning Disability Ministerial Advisory Group (LDMAG) and we met last week.  It was a long meeting and I find sitting in front of a computer screen for a long time very hard.  We spent some time at the beginning of the meeting thinking and talking about the work of Pauline Young who contributed so much over the years and sadly died recently.

I had an unpleasant experience at the hospital a few weeks ago when I went to A&E.  One of the staff members was very unwelcoming.  I didn’t stay and see a doctor because of the staff member’s attitude and the really long wait to be seen.  It was very upsetting.
