Well, I passed my probationary period as the Project Ambassador for Gig Buddies north Wales. I’ve been out and about lot in my new role, at exhibition stalls and promoting Gig Buddies.
I have a Gig Buddy of my own too – we go to lots of comedy events and other stuff together. It makes such a difference to have someone to go to these things with – it’s more of a shared experience and it feels like I’m going with a friend. I try to wear my Gig Buddies hoodie when we go out – I’m always on duty lol !!
I struggled with friendships when I was younger because I was bullied a lot. It’s different now, but it does make me appreciate the companionship of a Gig Buddy to share experiences with.
I’m off to Dorset next month. Dad lives down there and he’s getting married. I’m going down on the train by myself as my sister’s car will be packed full with kids and everything. We’re staying in a caravan. I’ve booked Passenger Assistance because I have to get across London on the Tube. I will give AdFest a miss this year – I’ve been for the past few years and I need to spend my money on other stuff.
I really felt it at Valentine’s this year – I really wish I was in a relationship with someone. Even though Ben and I are no longer in a relationship together, we have both agreed to remain as great friends. I felt and thought that if we avoided doing this, it might have become quite awkward – for example, if we bumped into each other out in the community. We are getting on really well as friends, and we meet up together when we can
I’m still part of LDMAG and go to most of the meetings in Cardiff. I have to miss the next one because I have a Job Centre appointment I can’t miss. I’m part of Roaring Mon Self Advocacy Group too – we had a meeting this morning. We’re working on a presentation for Angelsey Council about the public transport issues. The bus stop screens don’t work and the council has put paper copies of the timetables in the bus stops but they’re harder to read. The bus shelters are vandalised and in the village where one of our members lives, there are no longer any buses at all! He’s effectively stuck there.
I also attend the North Wales Flyers – a regional self advocacy group for north Wales, and I take any issues that Roaring Mon has raised and share them.
I’d like to move out the flat eventually and maybe get a house or bungalow. I’m on the third floor here and I’d love to have a little garden for some flowers and my own washing line. There’d be more storage space too.
