I had a great holiday in north Wales last autumn and got to meet up with a People First member who lives on Anglesey. I have been getting out and about a lot more now but had a terrible experience trying to get to Newport from west Wales to see Nicole perform at the theatre with the House of Deviant, the drag group. I got to Tenby in the afternoon to find that the train to Carmarthen was cancelled and things just went downhill from there. I was freezing cold and had to travel on a bus and then another couple of trains and only saw 10 minutes of the show because I was so late! I was freezing too with all the hanging around waiting for replacement buses.
Work at the restaurant has been quite busy as people aren’t going abroad now. Boxing Day was quieter than normal because the traditional Boxing Day swim in Tenby had to be cancelled but last night for example, we prepared 40 meals which is a lot for January. My cleaning job will start to get busy again soon as the tourist season opens and I’ll be starting back at the end of February.
I’ve been busy helping to prepare AWPF’s report on the experiences of people with a learning disability after the Covid vaccine roll out – that’s been published now. I’m also working with AWPF to try to understand the mortality statistics for people with a learning disability who died from Covid. That’s quite upsetting work.
I still don’t have an engagement ring or a wedding date! I saw my boyfriend last week and we’re planning to meet up again next week.
I have still been having chest pains and the GP has now referred me to the mental health team and I’m seeing them in February. I do feel a little better now – I wonder if that’s because the Covid pandemic seems to be nearly over. Tonight it’s Gig Buddies’ Talent Show – I think I’ll do a song and Pembrokeshire People First are doing an online Comedy Night.
