I’ve got a part time job! I’m working 15 hours per week with Your Voice Advocacy, my local self advocacy group.

My role is to encourage people to be a volunteer. I’m feeling good about it.

Ideally I’d rather be working more hours, but at least I’m doing something.

I’ve had an induction and I’ll be given a Dictaphone so that I can record things – it’s easier than writing it down.

It’s a flexible role and it will fit around my other volunteering roles which are many!

I am on the West Glamorgan Regional Partnership Board and I chair its Easy Read group – making sure that all documents are accessible and easy to understand for everyone.

I’m also part of the local Co-Production team.

Co-production means everyone working together.

I’m still on AWPF’s Board of Trustees too.

I represent people with a learning disability on the Stakeholder’s Reference Group – this looks at the services the Health Board provides.

Ann and I are trying to move house – we’re too far out here and public transport isn’t very good. We need to be nearer to town.

There’s going to be a bus strike  from tomorrow and again next week.  This really has a big impact on us because we need to use the bus to get anywhere.  We will have to rely on taxis and they are expensive.  There’s no railway station near us, so we can’t use the train instead of the bus.  It can be very isolating.

We hope to go to a Halloween Disco in Resolven on 31st – we’re looking forward to that.
