Blwyddyn Newydd Dda!

Do you remember I said in my last diary update that I’d been doing some filming but I couldn’t say much more about it? Well, the programmes have now been on the TV so I can share them with you.

I’m a first language Welsh speaker and I’ve been on S4C three times in the past few weeks!  I took part in Y Cyfweliad which is the Welsh language version of The Assembly – where people who are neurodiverse and/or have a learning disability interview famous people.

I got the chance to ask Dafydd Iwan the singer and Welsh language campaigner, Bronwen Lewis, the Radio Wales DJ, Elin Fflur – singer and songwriter and Mike Phillips the rugby player some questions.

I was really excited about it but it did also make me feel anxious.

I asked Dafydd whether he thought that it was realistic to think that Wales could be independent, and I also asked him what he thought about Donald Trump having a golf course in Scotland.  I’m a very political person; politics interest me and I believe in democracy.

I asked Mike Phillips when he had last cried.  That’s quite a personal question but the point of Cyfweliad is that no questions are out of bounds.

The Cyfweliad programme is good because you can ask questions you would not normally think of asking anyone.  The famous people find it quite funny.  Dafydd Iwan was crying at one point because one of the audience told him how incredible he was.

After the Cyfweliad programmes, I got invited onto Heno to talk about my experience as well!

There’s some talk about doing a podcast too, but nothing definite yet.

My Christmas was ok, but it’s nice to be back to normal now. We had a bereavement in the family a few months before Christmas, so we had a quiet celebration this year.  I don’t send Christmas cards and I think they’re a waste of money – they just get put in the bin after Christmas. It’s better to donate to a charity I think.  I do a lot of charity shop visiting – it’s quite dangerous as I spend lots of money in them!
