When we last spoke, I was waiting on news about a permanent residential place. The place where I was having respite.

That didn’t happen unfortunately. I think it was because the funding and support I needed wasn’t available for me to be there full time.

Because I can speak confidently and appear to do some things independently, people seem to mistake my support needs. My support needs are actually quite high.

I’m feeling in a good place with my mental health though.

There are a few things happening and I feel positive.

There’s another opportunity coming up for a new place. I had a respite assessment recently and I’m hoping to get a few respite sessions there. If the sessions go well, there’s a possibility it could lead to something longer term.

I feel happy about the location as it’s not too far from where I live. It means I could keep my friendship networks and other things.

I know a few of the people there and they’re closer to my age, which is good.

I’m still doing my volunteer job at the charity shop, even though my mobility hasn’t been great since I fell a while ago. I’ve had some physio sessions. The physiotherapist was amazing, she explained everything in a way I understood. The first physio I saw wasn’t so good. I now understand what my injury is and what the plan is to try and get better.

I was gutted I couldn’t join you all at AdFest again this year. I hope to get there next year if I can get a placement and a support worker to bring me. Fingers crossed!

Some more good things to be positive about are…

I passed my Level 2 English qualification, and my next goal is to do the level 2 Maths. My long term goal is to do a Health and Social Care Course or Childcare course.

I’m looking forward to visiting family in the East very soon, and to celebrating my Mum’s Birthday tomorrow.
