Covid 19 – Life in Lockdown
April 2020
David & Clare
Claire and I have been married for almost 4 years. We live together.
Friday last week (17th April) Clare received a telephone call from our housing provider, telling her that she had to stay at home for 3 months.
Clare does have epilepsy, but she hasn’t received a letter or call from her Dr to tell her that she has to shield because of a health condition. We are a bit confused about the situation, and what the isolation rules mean for us.
Accessing food has been a bit of a problem for us. We don’t have a debit card. We pay for our shopping by cash. All of the small local supermarkets close to us have stopped taking cash.
The only way we can get what we need to eat is by Clare going with her Mum to a bigger supermarket. Clare’s Mum is not over 70.
David is used to being out at meetings a lot, and we are not used to being at home together all of the time. The lockdown changes have put our relationship under pressure a bit more than usual, but we do our best to support each other emotionally.
To keep positive, we have been keeping in touch with friends and family trough Facebook, Messenger and by phone. We’ve also tried some new cooking recipes, reading and we’ve been for a walk at a place called the pier, which is quiet.
