I’m going to the Eisteddfod this week for the House of Deviant’s performance in the Maes D (the learners’ area). We’re performing on Thursday evening at 6.30.
We’re performing Ffabinogion – it’s based on the Welsh folk tales, the Mabinogion, but with a twist! I’m playing the role of the magician Gwydion. We’ve been practising for ages and Ellis, one of the drag queens who is a Welsh speaker has been helping us.
We were interviewed by the BBC a couple of weeks ago. They filmed us doing one of our rehearsal sessions and interviewed us individually. They asked about our drag characters and how we felt when we performed in drag. They gave us microphones and someone called Liz did the interviews.
We were on the BBC news on TV (not just on the website) and on S4C. Here’s the link: https://rb.gy/dnriq
It made me really proud to be filmed for the news. It was the chance to tell people who we are – the first drag group in Wales for people with a learning disability!
In other news….I’ve been to Tenby on holiday and I met up with a friend for a dip in the sea and a trip to Caldey Island. I’m still working too. It’s a busy summer!
