I’m really enjoying working for Caerphilly People First two days per week. I don’t ever want another job anywhere else! I also volunteer on two days a week so I’m in the office for four days.
I’m also Chair of the organisation and will step down when we have our AGM soon.
I’ve been really busy workwise. In conjunction with Insight, we’re offering the relationship training on a face-to-face basis now. At the moment we’re delivering it to Caerphilly People First members, but we have some student nurses joining soon and we’re hoping to deliver it to other self-advocacy groups in Wales. We look at healthy relationships and gender identity amongst other things.
We’re disappointed that we’ve not been able to connect with some of the people in the area with a learning disability since Covid. The day centres are only open at the moment for people with more complex needs so we’re not able to connect with everyone as we did before.
I’m also on the panel of the Health Equality Framework and I do all Caerphilly People First’s social media.
AdFest was wonderful – I loved every single minute of it; I’m going to the Pride festival in Cardiff in a couple of weeks but otherwise my social life has been relatively quiet. I’ve been struggling with my anxiety a bit at the moment.
