Two months ago, I was diagnosed with a stroke or you could put it another way and say that 8 weeks ago I became a stroke victim.

I spent the first week after my stroke in Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, and then I was moved to Eryri Hospital in Caernarfon.

I had lots of visitors – my siblings and their children, friends from Anglesey and Conwy Connect, Gig Buddies John and Sian and my own Gig Buddy Caren.

Some friends from the Rangers also visited me and two AWPF members Jac and Richard came too.

I came home from hospital a week ago and I had more cards to open at home.

When the stroke happened, luckily my sister was at my house with me because I had been having the flat refurbished.

We went to the GP because I had a weakness in my right arm and right leg.  The GP sent me to the hospital and I had to wait in Casualty for a while before I was seen.

An Occupational Therapist and a student nurse are visiting me at home for an hour to help me with physical therapy. I have another 5 weeks of that left.  I can get out and about a bit in the local community and then I plan to learn how to use public transport again.

My right arm is improving, but I still need to walk with a stick because of my right leg. I am on special medication now too.

The staff at hospital were great and they were very kind.  They explained well everything to me. I wasn’t scared but I was a bit worried at first when my arm and leg weren’t working properly.

I’m doing GCSE History and French at the moment.  I have three History exams coming up – in May and June.  They will be in Mold and I’ll stay overnight in a hotel the night before because they are morning exams.  The French exam will be next year.

In September I’m really excited to go down to Watford for Umbrella Fest.  One of my friends from Electric Umbrella did a video call with me when I was in hospital.

Speaking of Electric Umbrella, I’m a production assistant for them and I do a weekly Music Machine show alongside another lady who lives in Newcastle.

I also do voluntary work one morning a week with the Anglesey Column (Twr Marcwis) in Llanfair PG.

I’m waiting to join Transport for Wales as a voluntary panel member and I’m also waiting to start working for hospital radio – I’m not sure what day that will be.  I already have a couple of shows on Mon FM.

I’m currently still the National Council rep for Angelsey but I won’t be able to attend the next meeting as it clashes with my History exam.  Victoria went as my deputy this month.

I’ve been lucky to have so many messages and cards!
